She has worked on a dozen or so pedestrian bridges and preliminary/detailed design of several major LRT projects across Canada. Chelene and Schaun have worked together on bridge designs and LRT projects over the past decade.
Yarek Hosek has over 25 years of experience in structural design/construction and was involved in the design and construction of a variety of structural systems including WSDOT concrete bridges and Sound Transit LRT Stations & Trackways. He also has experience with bridge load rating and seismic retrofits. Yarek’s last role ranged from design engineer to field office engineer for the Downtown Bellevue Tunnel and East Link Stations.
Joseph Smith, SE, PE has held key design roles on a variety of major segmental and cable-stayed bridge design-build projects since 2005. His experience has broadened into construction management where he led design/construction engineering and inspection teams, coordinated between designer/contractor/owner, and performed advanced analysis of complex structural systems. Joseph has significant amount of experience on LRT and highway structures.
Qi Zhang, PE, PEng is a bridge engineer with over 8 years of experience specializing in seismic analysis. With a PhD from University of British Columbia, he is a faculty member at the British Columbia Institute of Technology and is a registered professional engineer in both Washington and British Columbia. Qi aspires to bridge the gap between research and engineering practices, ultimately enhancing the efficiency and resilience of structures.
Cong Xu has over 15 years of experience in bridge engineering in the highway sector in China and residential construction in British Columbia. His experience extends to various types of bridges in rural and urban contexts, including viaducts and interchanges, segmental concrete box girders, and extradosed bridges. He has also worked on several existing bridge expansions and rehabilitation projects.
Bo-Shiuan (Shawn) Wang, SE, PE holds a PhD from University of Washington in structural engineering and excels in seismic performance, computer analysis, steel, and concrete design. He started his career working on the Taiwan High Speed Rail. Bo-Shiuan has since designed various structural systems including cable-stayed, network tie-arch, movable, and steel truss bridges, and is experienced with load ratings and construction administration.
Drafting/3-D Rendering
Scott Varney (CAD Team Lead) is an expert in 3D computer-aided drafting and design, utilizing the full potential of Civil3D to construct precise models of bridges and associated structures. His skills extend to turning these models into high quality visualizations for clients and public outreach. Scott, Chelene and Schaun first worked together nearly a decade ago and share an interest in connecting communities.
Gary Lee has significant drafting experience for structural projects. He is accustomed to using Civil3D to develop plans for bridges structures, culvert replacements, EPS embankments, and MSE retaining wall systems. As a solutions-oriented individual, Gary leverages technical knowledge to produce accurate CAD models and drawings.
Michael Chui has 13 years of drafting experience utilizing AutoCAD and Microstation skills for bridge structures.
