The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (the Ministry) sought the services of an Art Integration Advisor to help identify opportunities and devise technical means for incorporating public art features into the Pattullo Bridge Replacement Project. Indigenous outreach and engagement is an important aspect to the work, recognizing culture and heritage at a site involving multiple stakeholder groups.
The new Pattullo Bridge will accommodate four lanes of vehicular traffic, with separated multi-use pedestrian and cycling pathways on either side of the bridge. The structure will serve as an improved link between New Westminster and Surrey.
V+M is providing consulting services as Art Integration Advisor to the Ministry to help develop the scope of work for the design-build proponents pertaining to art integration on the main bridge structure and other locations of the project extents. These efforts include identifying cultural and art integration opportunities and developing technical requirements for artwork integration on the structural elements of the main bridge.
